More Stone, Tile, a Swimming Pool, Eli & Jonah

Things are moving on.  The stone work on the front is almost finished.  They have to grout the steps and porch floor.  The crew that is working is so nice and have done a beautiful job.  The fireplace downstairs is almost finished.  The only thing they have left to do is the hearth.

We love it!

Steve is standing in the shallow end.
The depth goes from 3 - 6 feet deep.

There will be a fence around the pool because of
safety for the kids and insurance regulations. The pool
is not really big due to our lot and not winning the lottery!! But,
we think it will be fun to play in with the kids and for us and others to enjoy.
That is what we wanted.

Jonah loves going up to the house
and playing in the sand. He takes his
bulldozer and dump truck.

Eli was talking to Jennifer. He loves his mommy!

Eli has got the sweetest smile and shares it often.

Stone & Tile

Since our water incident, the work on the house really seemed to slow down.  It seemed as if nothing was being done.  Just lately, things have picked up considerably.
The columns were built for the front porch.
We loved what the carpenter did.
We also really liked the stairs he did in the garage too.

The deck for the screened porch was done.

We have picked out bronze brown railings for it and for the front porch.

The new overhang has been done except for the shingles.  The siding was put on for the stucco application which is supposed to be happening tomorrow.
Columns and stairs have been built for the screened porch.

                                                                                Screened porch

As of this evening, the stone work has been almost finished
on the porch.  They have not completed the floor of the porch or the steps yet.                                      My camera battery went dead so no pic of it completed.  This stone will cover the fireplace downstairs.

The bar downstairs & the upstair's fireplace are really nice and will be even   better after they are grouted and cleaned up.
The board will be removed.  I checked on that. It is only holding the tile in place.  This turned out really well for a mistake the carpenter made by not building the surround deep enough for the large stacked stone.  We really like this so much better!

There is so much more that needs to be finished.  The painters have to come back, the electricians come back, the hardwood floor people have to finish, the plumbers, the man who installs the kitchen cabinets needs to get them done and installed , the lighting folks, the carpet for downstairs, finishing the porch back and front, and the appliance installation, all the knobs & handles everywhere etc. They are saying that we still might be in by mid or the end of March!!

Master bath & Stone Choice for Our House

The last few days of house building have found us making choices about things that we thought had been done. The house building  process is very interesting.

The "tile master" as I will call him is excellent!  He is really nice as well as being super at his craft.  When we got to the house this afternoon, we found the master bath door blocked as he had been grouting and wanted us to stay off.

I was able to take pictures!

The red dining room ceiling will get another coat!
We love how it is looking!!

Nothing has been cleaned off yet, so it should look more vibrant
when it is.

We love the way  the decorative piece is around
 the tub front.
The knee
wall will have glass above it.

The stacked stone for the front of the house and the
downstair's fireplace which is floor to ceiling is a little richer
than my picture portrays.

The granite for this vanity is amazing.  The sinks were sent to the granite fabricator, so
maybe we will have some counter tops soon.

The kitchen cabinets are in the making, we think.  They will take about three weeks.  Once they are in the granite man, Tim, will measure and fix the kitchen counter tops.

Wall Painting & Tile Floors

It has been a while since I have had anything to put on the blog in the way of colors.  Jonah was sick most of the week, so I had him and couldn't really go up to the house while it was still light enough to see.  The painters have put the first coat of color every where except the master bedroom and bath.  The tile floors are in though.
The painter said that as soon as they had color on the walls
the trim work would really pop.  It does!

The color of the fireplace surround is not showing
as dark as it really is.

The color of the laundry room is the same as the kitchen, greatroom,
guest bedroom upstairs, dining room ans the guest bathroom.  We had the cabinets painted
dark to go with the floor.

Master bath floor and shower floor.  Maybe tomorrow the walls will go in.

Guest bath downstairs has the same tile and vanity color
as the master bath.

The down stairs color is a light taupe.  Jonah was with us.  He had a great time
running in the open spaces.  He didn't act sick here!!

Jonah was not quite ready to leave, so Papa helped him out.

The color is not really good in my photos, but there is some contrast.

Every time we see the house it is a little closer to being finished.

Painting

Yeh!! The painters have gotten to the cabinets and trim.  We love the colors so far.  Josh saw the house for the first time.  He has all ready picked the bedroom to stay in when he comes home for visits. It is the one Steve and I both thought he would choose.  The walls will be a light sage green.

Our master vanities have homestead brown on them.  We are using this color on the vanity in the downstairs bath also.  It will be interesting to see how they paint over the dark colors with the wall color.

The painter told us that they will be putting the wall color on Wednesday, so maybe we will have more to see then.
