Another Eli, Jonah, Papa, & house

Jennifer and Brian took the boys to Saluda Shoals tonight to see the lights and came by our house afterwards.  I took some quick shots of them.
Jonah and Papa reading.
Jonah has gotten into reading again

Jonah is talking all the time now.  He showed Papa an A and O's.
He likes for me to write his name for him.

Eli is changing so fast lately.  He loves looking at the fan and lights just like Jonah did.

The fan is fascinating!!

He is getting so cute!!  We are a little prejudiced, of course.

Steve and I picked out the garage door that we liked.  From there we had lunch, and I went on to pick out the door hardware, pulls, knobs, and all the bathroom stuff and the mirrors.  I did not get done with all that until 4:00.  After I got home, we put on our old shoes and went to see the house.   There had been quite a bit done since the other day.  The trim carpenters will be finished tomorrow, we think.   Next week, the painters will get  in to begin the prep work and paint.

The stairwell going down to the lower level
We love it!!

Still not quite finished but looking good!

In our master closet--cubbies & below are drawers

The hardwood stairs are in.  They still have to put the handrail going down.

Painting will make it even better.

Eli, Jonah, Papa, & house

Steve and I rode up to the new house this morning to see if anyone was working.  They weren't, so we took advantage of that and got in there to take some pictures.  The trim carpenter said that they will probably be finished by Wednesday. Then the painters will begin. We love what they have been doing do far.

Checking out the master closet!
Steve is checking out the shower.  The carpenters built the tub deck, but the plumber will be the one to insert the tub.

They still have to do the area around the fireplace and there will be doors on the lower cabinets.

Steve is standing in the foyer area right by the dining room.

Laundry room cabinets.

Downstairs wet bar area.
There will be an undercounter fridge on the far end.
We love what he has done with the cabinets.

We really like the way the mantel and the corbels look.
It is plain just like we wanted it.

Steve is in the basement area.
This will be our attic & his workshop.

Back upstairs, Steve is on the screened porch which has no floor yet!

The pile is getting smaller and smaller!!!

We love the view from the dining room through the great room.

The back yard is a work in progress.  We have a landscaper coming to discuss the yard tomorrow (Saturday) and  another one coming Monday afternoon.

We will have to plant some kind of bushes or trees to help screen the yard.
More of the trees had to be cut out than we first thought because of the grading.

Jonah would love to play in these huge piles of dirt and
see the bull dozer and small back hoe that is in the front.

The front will pretty much stay the same, I think.
There will be a retaining wall on the right side of the house by the lower level which will make a nice patio.

The boys and Papa

Jonah and Papa are coloring!!

Eli is snoozing through it all!!

More House

We did not get up to the house for 3 days or so and things had changed a good deal.

The trim carpenters had been busy.
The deck for the master bath tub.

The columns look  different now.  They should look great painted.

The bottom cabinets will have doors on them.  We decided to have them painted rather than stained.

The wet bar cabinets in the lower level.  It was not quite how we imagined it, so we have a meeting tomorrow with the trim carpenter and the project manager.

Steve is checking out the linen closet in our master bath.  The vanities have been started.

The yard is still a work in progress!!  Lots and lots of dirt have been moved!!!

The patio area at the lower level doors.
It has turned out larger that we thought and ought to make a nice area for a hot tub, eventually???  The small overhang over the doors has got to be redone because it is supposed to be larger.

This retaining wall will be continued and turned.  It will step down in height.  We think that it will make a great patio area on the side of the house where the lower level doors are.

Eli

Eli is getting cuter and cuter.  Of course,we are prejudiced I think.  Here are some of the latest of him.  I babysat while Jennifer went to the grocery store.  Jonah was at preschool and would come over to our house later.

Friday, Eli will be 6 weeks old.  That is hard to believe. It seems like it was just yesterday.

Jonah had that little frowny brow too.

More House

Our tray ceiling in the dining room
Yesterday ( Saturday afternoon)  we went to the house. We had not seen it for a couple of days.  The trim carpenters have been up there working this past week with the base boards and crown molding.  Oh wow, what a difference it made when they started upstairs.
The building of columns

It will be interesting to see the columns finished.  They are using MDF to make the design on them.

Master bedroom tray ceiling-
our builder said he puts rope lighting in it for mood

The correct door is finally in and we didn't even notice until we got inside.

From the outside, they look really nice.  The area where Steve is standing will be a patio we think.

The gardener has finally gotten started!!  He uses a track hoe, bull dozer, and a bob cat.  Seriously, the grading was started on Friday and Saturday.  This isn't the final grade, though.  That will come at the end.

The back is changed a good bit too, but not finished by any means.

Gardening equipment!!
They have moved a good bit of earth.
