We go to our lot every evening to see the progress. We can now see the outline of the basement. WOW! Our builder told us that we would look at it and ask ourselves if this is the right amount of space. We have done exactly that. They have taken away all the dig dig's as Jonah calls them. We figure that they will return because there is still a mountain of dirt in what will be our front yard.
This side of the house will actually be basement that we will use for storage instead of an attic. The second picture shows the length of the house. At the far end there will be two bedrooms and a small rec room in the middle with a fireplace. Oh my goodness! This is really happening!!
All the concrete was poured 2 days ago so nothing has really been done today. The concrete has been drying, and we are not sure how long that will take. We have a meeting next Wednesday with our builder to go over some things and make some choices. We are supposed to get our notebook with the schedule of picking out things for the house. We have had 98 & 99 degree weather with horrible humidity. We have been having thunder storms also. Today the 98 degree temp dropped to 77 after an afternoon thunder storm. Crazy weather!! This will not help the building process.
After the footings dry, forms will be placed on the concrete to pour more concrete for the basement walls. After this happens, the framers will begin putting the boards to make the floors, walls, & roof, I think. Steve says that after the flooring boards are in, the mountain of dirt will be used to back fill the outside of the concrete walls. Quite a process!
The area in the bottom right is our garage.
