More Seattle Trip

The day of the ferry ride we went to the house we were staying, met the owner, dropped off our things, and drove around the top of Washington to the Hoh Rainforest.  We went by Lake Cresent on the way which is a beautiful body of water.  It was formed by a glacier many a year ago.  Joanne, Steve , & Josh walked the trail through part of the forest.  I stayed in the car and rested as I was getting over pneumonia.  They saw two female elk and this huge black slug.  The plants are lush because of the moisture.  June is a really good time to go ot the forest because of the rain they have had.  It is a temperate rain forest which is so incredibly beautiful.  Later in the summer, things are not quite as pretty.

The trees grow really big in these parts!!!

Steve has some other pictures that we will put in later.

On the way out the 18 mile drive back to Highway 101, we happened upon 2 bucks along the side of the road.. They were cordial enough to let us take some shots of them as they lingered by the wayside.
Both elk had the velvet on their racks.  What a sight!!

The trip back was long, and we were so tired and hungry. Once we were back in Port Angeles, we found a grocery store open. We bought fried chicken, some other supper and breakfast things and ate a very well  back at the house.  The next morning we were out of the house by 7:15 and in Port Angeles to catch the ferry to Victoria on Vancouver Island. The ferry ride was 90 minutes. I kept hoping that we would see a whale but no such luck. Oh, my gosh!  We had to use our passports we had gotten.  That was interesting.  We went as walk-ons to Victoria, so we would not have to mess with the car.  It worked out well because everything is within walking distance.

We had just walked off the ferry to the dock!

We decided to visit the Royal British Museum which was really interesting. Joanne and I loved the gift shop and spent some money in that place.  After this, we decided to find this pub we had eaten in once before on the main street.  We ended up in this Scottish pub which used to be a bank.  It was so pretty inside.  The name of the restaurant was the Bard & Banker.

My picture, I am afraid, does not do the place justice.
We had a good time here as everywhere we went!!

From here we walked back along the main street toward the ferry that we had to catch at 3:00.  We saw the Parliment Building which was magnificent.

This shows only part of the building.   The flowers in the city were beautiful. There were hanging baskets all over the place.

Enough travel for tonight!!
